A stroll through Kilmore Quay, Co. Wexford

Kilmore Quay, a little traditional fishing village, is located in the south east corner of Ireland. The village sits in between two long crescent bays - Ballyteige Bay and Carnsore Point - with miles and miles of sandy beaches. Join me on a scenic stroll through the village, the harbour and down to the beach.

Kilmore Quay (from the irish: Cé na Cille Móire, meaning "Quay of the big church") is a picturesque little fishing village about 20 km south of Wexford town. It is best-known for its traditional thatched cottages, great seafood restaurants and its pretty little fishing harbour. 

This coastal strip in the south of County Wexford was declared a nature reserve and is one of the best protected sand dune systems in Ireland. Only 5 km off the shore beyond the rocky outcrop known as Forlorn Point lie the Saltee Islands, Ireland's largest bird sanctuary. The two islands, Big Saltee and Little Saltee, are very popular with bird watchers and day trippers.

Kilmore Quay ist ein kleines traditionelles Fischerdorf in der südöstlichen Ecke Irlands. Das Dorf liegt inmitten zweier Buchten, Ballyteige Bay und Carnsore Point, mit meilenlangen Sandstränden. Begleitet mich auf einem Spaziergang durchs Dorf, zum Hafen und bis hinunter zum Strand.

Kilmore Quay (aus dem irischen: Cé na Cille Móire - " Pier der großen Kirche") ist ein pitureskes kleines Fischerdorf, ungefähr 20 Kilometer südlich von Wexford. Es ist bekannt für seine traditionellen Cottages mit gedeckten Reetdächern, gute Fisch-Restaurants und den schönen kleinen Fischerei Hafen.

Der Küstenabschnitt hier im Süden der Grafschaft Wexford wurde zum Naturreservat ernannt und ist eines der best geschützten Dünensysteme in ganz Irland. Nur 5 Kilometer vor der Küste, hinter der felsigen Landspitze mit dem malerischen Namen "Forlorn Point" - was soviel wie "Punkt der Einsamkeit" oder auch "Verlassenheit" bedeutet - liegen die Saltee Inseln, Irlands größtes Vogelschutzgebiet. Die zwei Inseln, Big Saltee und Little Saltee, sind ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel, Boote fahren vom Hafen in Kilmore Quay.
